The purpose of list segmentation is to qualify leads by your own criteria, so that you can consistently put out the right message to groups of leads which you anticipate will be receptive to that message.

A recent study discovered that list segmentation increased email open rates by up to 40%, which triggered a corresponding rise in click-through rates. It’s no exaggeration to say that list segmentation may just be the single best way of organizing and grouping your lead database.

The process can be initiated right from the moment of lead capture, by asking one simple yes/no question, or by selecting something from a drop-down menu. Some of the most advantageous ways of segmenting include by geographic region, by customer behavior trends, and by demonstrated level of interest in your business/company.
